Philips Innovation Services is an Engineering firm within Philips. They provide resources and services to other business units within Philips and to clients outside of Philips. The Electronic Products & Systems department focuses on product development. Lumileds (a LED producer of Philips) was looking for a simple, low cost and portable demo driver to demonstrate their newest LEDs and to give to their clients. They asked for a driver that could drive two LEDs and with a knob that would control the intensity of the LEDs such that while the intensity of the first led increases the intensity of the second LED will decrease and vice versa.
As Electronics Designer I was responsible for designing a driver that would satisfy their requirements.
My tasks were:
- Create a low cost portable driver concept
- Make a design based on that concept
- Implement, test and demonstrate the concept
- Make a number of samples
In a short time I created a concept, implemented it and successfully demonstrated it to Lumileds.
