Philips Healthcare develop and sell medical devices intended for clinics and hospitals, like x-ray and MRI devices. These are expensive devices and clients have high expectations with respect to performance, quality and life time. The iXR (= Interventional X-ray) department work on x-ray devices intended to guide surgeons during an operation. As Electrical Engineer I was responsible for life cycle management of the computer hardware used, in particular for field replacement systems.
Some of my tasks were:
- Monitor availability and life time of used hardware
- If required look for replacements
- Create test plan and preform tests together with a test engineer
- Prepare change request with supporting evidence/documents in Agile
- Discuss and defend change requests in the change request control boards
- Implement and monitor changes
For a number of cases I was able to guarantee that our customers could continue to use their x-ray systems as desired.
